Students Challenged to Develop Healthy Snack

Several students recently tied for first place in the Long Island Family and Consumer Sciences Healthy Snack Challenge, winning $100. The challenge called for students to develop a recipe under 200 calories, test it, and then explain why it should be considered a healthy snack. The two winning recipes were for a summer sorbet and a breakfast tostada.

Congratulations to the winners: Jamie Arias, Tara Davis, Emma Hauptman and Yannah Jones (summer sorbet); and Erika Chimbo, Elianny Coste, Anthony Franzone and August Gladstone (breakfast tostada).
