East Hampton High School hosted its first art competition as part of March Madness, sponsored by the East Hampton Art Council. The EHAC judges were Kate Mueth, Janet Jennings and Colleen McGowan.

High school seniors won with the most points for their green circle design that emphasized layers, depth and tonal variety. For the juniors, who placed second, the judges remarked on their sophisticated design of the triangle and blue and gray values. With the sophomores, the judges noticed the fascinating flower-like form they had created using ovals and their class color in various shades of yellow. The freshmen surprised the judges with their innovative use of pattern and movement with squares and their class color, red.
