Stacy Meyers, the marine program education director from the Cornell University Extension Program, visited first- and second-grade students in their science labs in February to teach them about water usage on Long Island and its impact on the environment. Students crafted beach models with sand and natural debris in order to observe how tides move pollution, while Ms. Meyers discussed the impact that pollution has on the environment.

Ms. Meyers is planning to return to East Hampton in the spring to work with fourth-grade students in their labs.
